So Much To Do

I have been on a yard sale/thrifting kick for a couple of weeks now, so after TLH's soccer game on Sat. I just had to stop at a couple that were on the way home.
Big mistake.
Mr. A ruined it for me.
He was hating on everything! He cock-blocked everything I picked up.
"You don't need that." "That thing doesn't work anymore."
I glared at him like I normally do when I have something ugly to say but keep it to myself because we're in public.
Never again will I take him with me.
He made me pass up on a baby jogger that I've been longing for.
Just the other day I told him I wanted one and what do you know?
I spot one at a yard sale.
First thing he says, "How are we getting it home?"
Hellooo...
Isn't that why we we bought Delilah?
To pile our crap in?
Needless to say, I didn't get anything.
Anyway, when we got home, I was still irraz, so while he was out painting the garage, I took the girls with me to go thrifting.
I found a couple of cute things, but my find of the day was an old pentagon side table with storage.
I haven't taken any photos of it but you'll see it in a future 'Before/After' blog.
I can't wait to get started on that project!
So little time.
As I mentioned, Mr. A has been working hard finishing the second garage we built a year ago and getting our pond pretty again.
And while he's been doing those projects, I've been resanding our back deck.
Yup, I'm handling power tools.
Well, just a sander, but it still has to get plugged into the wall before being used.
I was sanding away when I saw Mr. A in the corner of my eye on the top landing (where my new craft room will be!) of the second garage with a basketball.

Him and TLH were playing basketball and he decided to launch the basketball from that distance.
And guess what?
He made it on the second try.
He's such a big kid.
I also got a little break from sanding when the duckies came!
They usually swim in the pond in the mornings, but I guess they got a late start today.
TLH grabbed some bread and they led the duckies all the way to the house so I could get closer pics of them.

So cute!
Anyway, the deck should be finished and stained by the end of the week (yay! no more splinters!) and then I'll be able to start on that table.
So the plan goes.

TL-H Is For Happy

TLH met with a counselor today.
It was nothing big. Just an assessment.
He asked a bunch of questions and then gave us a treatment plan.
She'll have appointments with a therapist and a Dr. and be on a medicinal plan.
I'm very wary of giving her meds so I'm going to, first, make sure that the problems aren't just from normal growing pains.
I haven't mentioned this, but TLH's dad is bi-polar.
They say that it does run in families and that TLH shows symptoms.
This crushes my heart.
I'm not ready to pour out my feelings on this subject yet, so let's move on.
After her appointment, I took TLH, and a napping L.J, to Bass Pro Shops.
Not for any camping gear, or hunting gear, or fishing gear.
But for squished pennies!

TLH collects squished pennies and Bass Pro Shops happens to have a penny machine in their store.
Who knew?
So, after cranking that wheel 4 times, she was a happy girl.

To get my happy fix on, I stopped at a local thrift store before going home.
Two, actually.
At the first stop, I ended up finding a mini apothecary jar to go with another jar that I found at another thrift store I went to the other day.
I love how my colorful thread look inside of the jar.

But, I ended up scoring big time at the next place.
I found a cute, little child's chair

and a couple of items for the girls and when I went to check out, the woman at the register started talking to me about my tattoo and how she loved it and how she wanted one, too.
So, when it was time to pay up, the only thing she rang up was the basketball shorts that TLH wanted.
Which was only a buck.
This is where it gets good.
I never carry cash on me.
I left my credit card in the car, so when I asked TLH to run to the car and get it, the lady said not to worry about it and she let me walk out of the store without paying!
How awesome was that?!
Granted, the items didn't total more than 5 bucks, but I still felt like I was robbing the place.
I'm definitely going back there when she's working.
I can't wait to do my first before and after post with that chair!
Keep your eye out for it!

My Ass

I was on Etsy about a month ago and came across a Centaur wooden pull toy.
Ya.
How strange is that?
I would not let L.J pull that thing anywhere.
I don't like Centaurs.
Half man, half anything just gives me the creeps.
And don't get me started about the Old Spice commercial with the Centaur.
I can't even look at that commercial when it comes on.

So, I went to the local thrift store and picked up a few things.
Including this cute donkey for a whopping 33 cents.

I showed it to Mr. A and he said it looks like a Centaur except he's half basket.
Thanks for ruining the cuteness of it for me, Mr. A.
Poor donkey might end up in our next garage sale.
